Candle Light in our Apt

I love our brick walls and candle light makes them feel even cozier.  Thanks for our new hanging votive Kara!

Get Your Pajama Pants On

While I'm not one to knock lounge wear as day wear I didn't know quite what to think when Rachel Roy wore a full set of pajama's to an event.

But as the trend developed I noticed Sophia Coppola in Vogue looking slightly more appropriate

Now I'm wondering what will happen this summer when the weather gives people a chance to try out some of the thousand pajama as pant options that sprouted up in full fury with the spring collections.

Here's some of my fav vacation worthy options from Net-A-Porter.  The links can all be found at http://pinterest.com/becal/get-your-pajama-pant-on/

Kirra Jamison

Please give yourself a break and take a look at Australian artist Kirra Jamison's "stylized floral forms," they're pure visual happiness.  I'd like to see them transferred to fabric and made into pillow cases for a pop art bedroom style a la Amanda Brooks.

Amanda needs to replace her superhero portrait with a Kirra Jamison

p.s i found her on Elizabeth Lee's pinterest http://pinterest.com/betsyshoelake/
shocker i know, i never find anything there ;)

My Alphabet

Yes, I have had a book written about me and my exciting life.  It was way back in the pre-elementary school days so that's why you may not have heard of it.

Sorry if some of these photo's are a tad bit blurry, details details...

  Illustrations by Elizabeth Lee

I have a few favorite pages but none are quite as famous as the "V" which gets left out on my dresser every February.  It's particularly relavent this year due to the neon polkadots.  80's brights are back, might as well embrace them.

That Pesky Parson's Desk

West Elm's Parson's desk is everywhere and just like with ankle boots and tulip chairs I started out apathetic about them and then without realizing it had decided I couldn't live without one, (this is how brainwashing works people!)

After you see these photo's of the Parson's in all it's elegant, utilitarian, shiny glory I'm sure you will decide you need one too.

My personal fav, I'm convinced this mini version would transform our tiny apartment

Don't make me list where all these pics are from.  Google Parsons desk, search on DesignSponge or go on the WestElm website and they will all pop up very quickly :)

ok, ok here's one link:

More Valentines Day Card Options

Worked on the design for our Valentines day card a little more this morning which means I can cross at least one thing off my to-do list!  I think the first options my favorite. I liked the doily idea on the last one but I can't quite get the font right and I still need to figure out how to draw in string so it stops looking like a bunch of doily's floating in space.  We'll see what Ryan says when he comes home, in the mean time what do you think?

Bootylicious Bombing

Unless you've been living under a rock I'm sure you've heard of yarnbombing, but sexy yarnbombing?  I think this takes things to a whole new level.

At first glance I laughed, but then I knew I had to share.

I can't deny that I like what I see.  Somewhere inside I know you do too.

Based on her pose I think hanneli would enjoy them too

Magda Sayeg you are awesome, even if your website does sorta give me a headache

Isabel Marant: Etoile

told you i'd find more.  these prints and colors make me think of sun and sand, which is good because it's looking a little slushy here today (not exactly snowing, not exactly raining just slushing... )

Isabel

Sorry for all the one hit wonder posts but had to share my excitement about Isabel Marant's prints for Spring/Summer 2012.  Only have one pic for now, I'll scour the internet for more later I'm sure

More Maira

I love the little observations about life Maira Kalman writes to go along with her illustrations and as I was admiring one of my favorites today and thinking about how perfectly she captures the complexities of life in a light hearted way I also started thinking that http://www.garancedore.fr/en/ totally copied her with the whole handwriting witty little comments over illustrations thing!  Wow is that what they call a run on sentence?

anyway, "a waterfall of pink bougainvillea" doesn't it make you feel good?

Heidi in Calvin

Did you see Heidi Klum in her Calvin Klein at the Golden Globes?  So great.  The whole nude silk bonanza that's been happening this season was kinda boring me until Heidi came along with her perfect Calvin sheath paired with turquoise Lorraine Swartz.  She couldn't possibly have done any better.

Couldn't pick just one shot so here's a few:

notice the RING!?  oh, it's so good
